Give classic guacamole a fresh spirulina twist with this quick and easy recipe. Creamy mashed avocado gets blended with a teaspoon of Niva Organic Spirulina Powder, adding vibrant green colour and naturally occurring nutrients without overpowering the fresh, zesty flavour of traditional guacamole.

Made with simple ingredients and ready in minutes, this spirulina guacamole is perfect for dipping with tortilla chips, spreading on toast, or serving alongside your favourite tacos and bowls.

This recipe makes about 2 cups and takes 10 minutes to prepare.

Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Niva Organic Spirulina Powder
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup diced tomato
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
  1. Mash the avocados. Halve and pit the avocados, then scoop the flesh into a bowl and mash to your desired texture.
  2. Stir in the spirulina. Add the lime juice and spirulina powder, stirring until the guacamole turns an even, vibrant green with no streaks.
  3. Add the mix-ins. Fold in the red onion, garlic, cilantro, and tomato.
  4. Season. Season with salt and red pepper flakes, if using, tasting and adjusting as needed.
  5. Serve. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or press plastic wrap directly onto the surface and refrigerate for up to 1 day.

Tip: Stir the spirulina powder in right after mashing the avocado, while it’s still soft — this helps the color blend in evenly without dark streaks.
